Panoramas

Ok, so I love the idea behind panoramas, and I enjoyed shooting them, but I don't think that mine turned out very well. I didn't have too much time to shoot. But, I did go to Zion's National Park and me and my cousins hiked up to Angels's Landing, or tried anyway. There was a death that made it so that we were unable to get all the way to the top, but thats another story. I got a few landscape shots, and I liked them at the time, but when I looked at them on my computer, they weren't the same. Later that week, back up in Salt Lake, me and my dad hiked up some hills behind the U at about sunset time. We had to wait a moment for the exact moment. Just as the sun was going down, I took a panorama from one side of the hill to the other. That's my favorite one, even if it is a bit cliche.

Mini Final

This was a shot from Assignment 2. I was eating dinner one sunday, when I thought that my placemat could make a cool background, so I was on the number 38 and we had a ton of tomatos that we grew in our garden. I took 38 tomatos and made a big 38. I really like this shot because I like the many different colors that contrast with each other. For example, the red, yellow, blue. orange and green.
This was from the monochromatic assignment, It was tin foil that was stretched over a cooking sheet thing. I thought that it was cool because it had wrinkles and cool highlights and texture. It's also sharp, witch is always a plus.
This shot was from the portraits assignment, and I almost always detest portraits, but I really like this one. It was an immitation of a James Dean portrait, and I originally shot it in color, but I really like it in grayscale, especially because that's how the original James Dean shot was. Me and my parents set up lights and the tripod. It was a pain to shoot, though. To get my hair to be anything like his, it took a ton of hair gel, both my parents, and half an hour. I love the light in this shot, it's really cool.

This was also from the monochromatic assignment. It was shot in the Oklahoma City airport, while I was waiting to board. It is of someone's bag. I really like the light playing on the wrinkles of the bag, and it's sharp, so it was really awesome, especially because it was a dark rainy day in Oklahoma. I also like the green color.

This was one of my free shoot shots. It was in the big granite quarry thing on Wasatch Boulevard. I love this shot. It's interesting. It's sunset light and it was cool how it was on the buildings. I also love the reflection in the water.

This image was for my Complimentary/Analogous Assignment. I really liked this shot because of the deep colors. It was blue and orange. I like the background blue pot. The orange flowers were cool too. The only problem is that the orange flower looks very yellow, so it didn't really fit the assignment very well.

Anton Corbijn

So, this was a photographer that Slade put me on to, and I absolutely love his stuff. He does a lot of work with famous people, especially bands. He spent years doing stuff with U2, and a lot of time with Depeche Mode. I have to say, I love the fact that most of these images are in black and white, or skewed colors, I think that it adds a lot to the images. He does a good job with contrasts, he often times blows out both the lights and the darks and, in my opinion, it looks really cool. His detail and textures are also excellent. My favorite images are probably the one of the black man covering his face, the War cover, and the portrait of Nicholas Cage.

I thought that this picture was cool, with the darkness, and yet still cool light.

This a picture of the band Depeche Mode. I like the blue, and how the focus is on the people in the back, rather then the one in the front.

This is a portrait of the actor Nicholas Cage.

I like this picture, I like the contrast of the skin colors. It makes the photograph interesting.

This is the amazing athlete, Lance Armstrong. Anton Corbijn spent a day with Lance, strolling around the town. Corbijn wanted a different picture of Lance Armstrong, so he didn't take a singe one of him on a bike. I thought that that was really interesting and original.

This is a portrait of actress, Cameron Diaz, and actor, Ewan McGregor. (Obi Wan Kenobi, for those that don't know him.) I like this picture, not only for that interesting blue color, but also for the detail in her coat, and the taxi ceiling, and the wall outside the window. I also like how only a part of Ewan McGregor's face is showing.

This is one of the most famous album covers ever, and it belongs to one of the best albums ever. This is Joshua Tree, by U2, once again. I like how the band members are off center and slightly blurry. This shot was a panorama, if you couldn't already tell.

I love this picture, I love the whiteness of the eyes and finger nails, and how they contrast with the black skin. I also love how the light shows detail and other colors on the skin.

This is a shot that Anton Corbijn did for the band Pearl Jam. I like it. It's a cool silhouette. I also like the light on the rocks.

This is another album cover that he did for someone, but I'm not sure who. I like it, though, the black of the band members' clothes contrasts with the whiteness of the overhead lights, and the detail in the tunnel is cool too.

I'm sure many people will recognize this picture. It is that of the album Sam's Town by The Killers. I don't what it is that I like about it, but I love this picture.

This was cool, I thought. Once again, great contrast between the white of the dress, and the black of the hair and the grass.

Just Some Cool Photos

So, I dont know who took these pictures, but I love them. I love cool landscapes. I just thought I would put these out there.

Bono

This is Bono, the lead singer of the legendary band U2, possibly my favorite band of all time. Not
only do I love his music, but he is a good citizen of the world too. While he is not touring or doing stuff with his band, he is trying to improve the world by helping people all over the world, especially Africa. He has set up several organizations sending aid to the people in need in Africa. He and U2 have done several concerts for organizations such as Keep a Child Alive and others. For his work, he has been nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize 3 times, and he was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II. Bono is one of my heroes, he has good music, not only in sound, but it message also, and he is one of the world's leading philanthropists.

Assignment 5

I absolutely loved this assignment. I loved the freedom of shooting whatever looks cool to you. I also liked it, because I had a lot of time to shoot this week, so I decided to go shoot in some interesting places. I went up little cottonwood canyon to an old abandoned concrete building that had a lot of really interesting shots. A few days later, I went to The Old Mill, down by like Marketstreet Grill, and shot there for a while, then drove to the granite thing up on Wasatch and shot a few there, but the light was running out, so I decided to go home, but on the way, I stopped at La Caille and shot a few there. I had several shots that I really liked. The one of the leaves on the black thing was cool I thought, and I really liked all the ones at the Old Mill. It was really cool, almost sunset, light, so it played on the stones of the mill, and made really cool shadows and highlights. I also really liked the ones of the metal thingy in the granite place. As I said, I loved this assignment and I have realized the value of shooting in cool places in cool light.
